MR. ERNEST EBI – Chairman

Mr. Ernest Ebi attended Howard University, Washington DC, where he graduated with B.Sc in Business Administration in 1978 and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the same Institution in 1979. He worked in various departments of International Merchant Bank in Lagos between 1981 and 1993. In 1993, he was appointed by the CBN/NDIC as Executive Director, Corporate Banking of African Continental Bank Plc, Lagos, a position he occupied until 1995, when he became the Managing Director/CEO of New Nigeria Bank Plc. In January, 1998, he was appointed the Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Diamond Bank Limited and between 1999 and 2009, he served as the Deputy Governor, Policy and Corporate Services at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Mr. Ernest Ebi has participated in several Management Development Courses both locally and overseas in the areas of Strategic Planning, Financial and Risk Management amongst others. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and holds the National Award; MFR.
MR Ernest Ebi is happily married with children and sits on the board of several companies.

MR. FRIDAY ORJIEH – Managing Director/CEO

Friday is a graduate of insurance from the University of Lagos (B.sc). He became an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London (ACII) in 1991, and a Fellow of the same Institute (FCII) in 1993 and an Associate of Nigerian Institute of Management (ANIM) in 1995. He obtained his Masters in Business Administration, (MBA) specializing in Marketing Management in 1997.
An Alumnus of Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, Chicago, USA. He has attended several courses and seminars within Nigeria, West Africa and in countries in Europe and America on Insurance, Bank Assurance and Risk Management.
Friday has held several Management positions; he was the pioneer Managing Director/CEO of UBA Metropolitan Life, (formerly Heirs Life).

ALHAJI SULEIMAN ABDULKADIR – Director

Alhaji Abdulkadir is the Garkuman Zazzau and the District Head of Makarfi both in Kaduna State. He obtained his B.sc (Industrial Education) and Masters degree from the Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. He was a Senior Lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic between 1979 and 1982. Alhaji Abdulkadir was a Director of the Kaduna State Board of Internal Revenue and the Kaduna State School Management Board as well a member of the NigerianAmerican Chamber of Commerce. He is currently a Director in the following companies; Trow Flour mills, Zaria and Amaj Structures Limited Kaduna. He joined the Board of UNIC Insurance Plc in December 2010.

Mr. Adeboye Shonekan – Director

Mr. Shonekan obtained his first degree in Law (LL.B), 2nd Class Hons from the University of Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom (1986) and attended the management programme at Harvard Business School in 1998. He worked as Investment Officer with International Finance Corporation (1990-1995). He is the Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian German Chemicals Plc. He is a director of several other companies, including Universe Reinsurance Limited, Virgin Nigeria Limited, Critical Rescue International and Intersource S A Limited.

Bismark J. Rewane - Director

He has more than twenty-five years of experience in Banking Finance and Research methods; he is an economist, educated at the University of Ibadan and at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He started his banking career with Barclays Bank in the United Kingdom. He proceeded to join the First National Bank of Chicago. He retired from the service of the First National Bank of Chicago to run the Financial Derivatives Company Limited, the leading Economic and Business research organization in Nigeria. He is currently a director of the Top Feeds Nigeria Limited and Delta Packaging Nigeria Limited, subsidiaries of Life Floor Mills and Seaboard group of Kansas City. Mr. Rewane serves on the Board of Directors of Virgin Nigeria Airways Limited a wholly private sector owned flag carrier for Nigeria. Financial Derivatives Company Limited acted as financial advisers in the conceptualization and development of a flag carrier between 2003 and 2005. He joined the Board of Unic Insurance Plc in January, 2007.

MR. TIJANU BABATUNDE FOLAWIYO

Mr. Olalekan Jenmi – Executive Director (Governance & Compliance)

Mr. Jenmi was educated at Yaba College of Technology where he studied Accountancy graduating with HND Upper Credit (1986). His professional qualifications amongst others include A.C.A (Associate Member, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) and ACIT (Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Taxation). Lekan worked with Nigeria Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) between 1990-1992 as Finance Officer. He joined Coopers and Lybrand (Chartered Accountants), now PricewaterHouseCoopers (PWC) as Senior Accountant rising to level of Audit Manager. He joined UNIC Insurance Plc in February 2002 as the Chief Internal Auditor and currently occupies the post of Executive Director (Compliance & Governance).

Ms. Kerina Chitsamatanga - Executive Director (Finance)

Ms Kerina Chitsamatanga is the Chief Finance Officer. Kerina holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting + Finance) degree and MBA (Accounting + Finance) degree from the University of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe. She started her insurance career with Lion of Zimbabwe Insurance company a subsidiary of Guardian Royal Exchange in 1995 where she held the position of Assistant General Manager (Finance, Administration and Systems)/Company Secretary before moving to Zimnat Lion Insurance company as the Chief Finance Officer/Company Secretary. She later on moved to the American International Group (AIG) Zimbabwe as the Finance Director. She became the Executive Director, Finance in January, 2007.

Mr. Adeyinka Shonekan – Chief Operating Officer, Asset Management

Mr. Adeyinka Shonekan holds a 1994 B. A. Economics Degree from the University of Leicester (UK) and a 1995 MBA in International Management from University of Exeter (UK). He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing England and Wales and has over 10 years post-graduation experience. He started his career in shipping and joined Guaranty Trust Bank in 1996 focusing mainly on Corporate Banking where he acquired special expertise in the Oil and Gas, Metal fabrication and Food and Beverage Industries. He left Guaranty Trust Bank as Head, Ikeja Branch to join Bond Bank at inception as the Group Head Corporate Banking. During his years at Bond Bank, he was also the Group Head: Oil and Gas, Telecoms and Special Projects. He left Bond Bank in 2005 to join UNIC Insurance Plc as Head, Asset Management and is presently the Chief Operating Officer, Asset Management.

Mr. Tunji Ashiru, Chief Operating Officer UNIChealth

Mr. Tunji Ashiru holds a 1998 B.B A. Finance Degree with a minor in Accounting from the Kennesaw State University (U.S.A), He is a Certified Management Accountant member of the Institute of Management Accountant and has over 10 years post-graduation experience. He started his career with General Electric. He is Six Sigma trained. Mr. Tunji Ashiru has special expertise in the Health Insurance industry, most notably with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Wellcare Healthplans in areas related to Medical Informatics, actuarial analysis, Business process automation and re-engineering, cost containment , Business Strategy, Financial Planning & Analysis, Budgeting and Valuation. He left Wellcare Healthplans in Dec 2008 to Join UNIC Insurance Plc as Chief Operating Officer, Unic Health.
